The Victorian Government have advised that Victoria’s lockdown will not be lifted as planned on Thursday 2 September. An end date is yet to be announced.
There will still be only five reasons to leave home:
- shopping for food and supplies
- authorised work and study
- care and caregiving
- exercise
- getting vaccinated
Some other restrictions have been eased, but the 9pm curfew remains. You can find the Table of Restrictions here.
OC Connections will continue to follow these directives and operate under a restricted model. We thank you for your cooperation in following all guidelines to assist us in ensuring that our community remains safe.
This is heavy news to take in with the impact of these continual lockdowns impacting our community in many ways. We would like to acknowledge the actions and support of all of our staff in working together to ensure that our participants, families and colleagues continue to feel supported, connected and updated while juggling their own personal commitments and challenges.
To our families of OCC participants, thank you for your continued support and patience while we work together to determine the best way to support your family member within these restrictions. Those who need urgent assistance in supporting their family member during this time, please contact our Day Support team on 9569 0603.
Families of our residents who wish to discuss support requirements, or to get in contact with their family member via a video conference can contact their house and speak to a Team Leader or House Supervisor to make arrangements.
Lockdown fatigue is real and it is apparent that the only effective way we can fight this virus is through vaccination. As it becomes clear that we need 80% of the population vaccinated before we can see an end to restrictions, we encourage our community to get vaccinated by checking online at the COVID vaccine booking portal or by calling the COVID Hotline on 1800 675 398. You can also contact your GP to see if they are providing vaccinations.
The continual changes that this presents can be challenging during this time and we encourage our community to seek help and support when needed. You can find useful resources via our COVID-19 update page and our Resources page. Alternatively, the Government’s Disability Gateway is also a source of important resources for people with disability, their families and carers.
Take care.
