FIVE ways to support social inclusion
The great thing about providing employment for people with a disability is there are a number of ways you can do this; the benefits are many and it’s easier than you may think.
Here’s two ways you can do it.
1. Employ a person with a disability
At no cost to your organisation, if you employ a person with a disability who is a participant in the NDIS, supports in employment can be provided for people with a disability working in open employment at businesses just like yours.
These supports are funded from the employees NDIS plan and are provided by the employee’s service provider of choice. This is an agreement that is managed between the employee and the service provider.
2. Buy goods or services from a social enterprise or Australian Disability Enterprise (ADE) that employs people with a disability
That’s right, it’s as easy as buying the goods or services you ordinarily procure for your business from a Social Traders certified social enterprise that employee’s people with disability or from a registered Australian Disability Enterprise (ADE).
When you do this, you are unlocking social value by simply diverting your procurement spend to one of these organisation. This provides benefits to your organisation, work for a person with a disability and the social and economic value that comes from providing meaningful and sustainable employment to people with a disability.
3. Give
OC Connections wants to create as many possibilities as we can to bring dignity and independence to people with disability by providing them with access to supports that assist them to live independently and to actively engage in their communities
When you donate to OC Connections you are helping people with disabilities to achieve their personal goals and live an independent and fulfilling life.
Your contribution will be used to provide more opportunities outside the NDIS for OC Connections’ participants to achieve their personal goals – from assistive technology to achieve greater independence, through to support to gain employment.
