Facility-Based Respite

OC Connections’ Respite Service provides valuable benefits to individuals and their families/carers. Respite provides carers with a break, while offering participants the opportunity to foster friendships, learn new living skills or participate in community-based activities. Participants are encouraged to be as independence as possible and responsible for personal choices and decisions.

We offer respite every day of the year, including overnight respite, provided by fully-trained staff committed to supporting participants develop and maintain independence, all within a home-like environment.

Our Respite Home

OC Connections’ respite home is based in Oakleigh and offers three respite bedrooms. Respite is offered on a short or long-term, emergency or planned basis, and includes overnight options. Lengths of stay depends on individual circumstances, however is generally limited to 1-2 weeks at a time. Staffing levels vary according to an individual’s support needs.

Accessing Respite

To access OC Connections’ Respite Service, participants must be aged 18 years or over, have a disability and be on the Department of Health and Human Services’ Disability Support Register. Enquiries can also be made directly to OC Connections.
