Facility-Based Respite

OC Connections’ Short-term Accommodation provides valuable benefits to individuals and their families/carers. Respite provides carers with a break, while offering participants the opportunity to foster friendships, learn new living skills or participate in community-based activities. Participants are encouraged to be as independent as possible and responsible for personal choices and decisions.

We offer short-term accommodation every day of the year, including overnight, provided by fully-trained staff committed to supporting participants develop and maintain independence, all within a home-like environment.

Our Respite Home

OC Connections’ Short-term Accommodation is based in Oakleigh and offers three bedrooms. Accommodation is offered on a short or long-term, emergency or planned basis, and includes overnight options. Lengths of stay depend on individual circumstances, however, is generally limited to 1-2 weeks at a time. Staffing levels vary according to an individual’s support needs.

Accessing Respite

To access OC Connections’ Short-term Accommodation, participants must be aged 18 years or over, have a disability and be on the Department of Health and Human Services’ Disability Support Register. Enquiries can also be made directly to OC Connections via the ENQUIRE button on the left.
