oc connections Disability Support hub in casey

OC Connections extends their expertise and specialised support staff to the City of Casey to work with people living with disability to create their own meaningful lives through daily activity, work and community.

We provide individualised, engaged disability support where people can be empowered to decide what they do, how they do it, when and where they do it, and who they do it with.

WHAT DOES OC CONNECTIONS IN CASEY MEAN FOR YOU?

OC Connections empowers people with a disability living in the City of Casey with more choices and opportunities to:

  • find the support and activity that suits their needs
  • build independence and confidence
  • engage and interact within the community with confidence and ease
  • gain the skills and support to find meaningful community options

It also means that carers, support workers, families and advocates now have more options to assist them in finding the right service for the people they support. The flexibility of the services provided by OC Connections allows us to cater our hubs, staff support and activities to the needs of the Casey disability community.

OC Connections, through OCC Enterprises, already provide opportunities for Supported Employment in Casey via our car wash services. In the following months, we will be building on this service by offering further employment opportunities and pathways via our School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) for participants to take part in.

OC Connections have helped me participate in weekend activities and encouraged me to talk to new people,” says Joshua “They are good communicators and I don’t feel nervous when I am out. They are interested in what I want to do and listen to my opinions.”

Joshua, Casey Hub participant

“There were many groups during the weekdays, but I love my job, so finding activities on a weekend was hard,” says Joshua on finding support in his local area.

This is where our individual supports in the City of Casey stepped in. Joshua, together with his Mum and Dad, worked with Casey Hub coordinator, Lyndall, to establish what Joshua needed as well as when and where he needed them.

They established a regular support program with an OC Connections disability support worker to support Joshua every Sunday to get out into the community and live his life the way he wants to.

what is on offer IN casey?

Individualised Supports for your Individual Needs

We provide support across daily activities and tasks, within the home and at work. How that is offered will depend on your needs, goals and NDIS plan.

We will work with you and the people important to you (family, planner, carers) to determine the right supports to meet your goals and then co-design a program to suit these needs. We respond to people as individuals with unique needs, preferences, hopes and interests.  Our ongoing, open feedback process allows us to adapt support to your ever-evolving needs.

How is this done?

  1. You can arrange a time to meet with our staff to discuss your support needs, your NDIS plan and funding.
  2. We will then provide a quote based on the agreed support to be provided by us, the hours of support and a start date.
  3. Once agreed, a service agreement will be produced for you to sign. We will ensure that you are aware of all aspects of the support and service provided to you.

My Days

We offer supported daily activities within the community, depending on your needs, goals and aspirations. This can take place in group settings, or as individual activities and can be tailored around your support needs. We will support you doing what you want, when you want and who you want to do it with.
