It was footy finals fever last weekend and residents from several of the OC Connections’ (OCC) households heartily celebrated the AFL Grand Final event at home.
Even though the match was held in Perth, residents were able to still celebrate in fine form. With the support of OCC Disability Support Workers, they put up colourful decorations to get in the mood and prepared the obligatory footy food spread.
Deb, a resident from one of our houses was supporting the Melbourne Demons. Her brothers, Trevor and Rob are die-hard Melbourne supporters and were delighted to hear that Deb was following them in their first shot at the Premiership in 57 years.
Residents Colin and Don (below), donned their football attire and enjoyed watching the Dees win from home.
The evening’s entertainment was a fun distraction for residents during Melbourne’s latest lockdown and a special one at that for the Melbourne supporters.
Our staff are always looking at ways to work with residents to create activities and support around their interests. Lockdown has meant that our staff have had to be more creative and agile in finding activities that work within restrictions while fulfilling the needs of each resident.
