Person-Centred Active Support (PCAS) is a transformative approach that places the individual with a disability at the forefront of their support journey. It promotes empowerment, respect, and collaboration, where the person’s choices, preferences, and aspirations are paramount.
PCAS recognises that everyone deserves the opportunity to actively participate in their own life, make decisions, and engage in meaningful activities.
With PCAS, the person is at the centre of their support team, working in partnership with dedicated professionals to co-create a tailored plan that meets their unique needs and goals.
This approach fosters independence, autonomy, and a sense of belonging, ensuring that each person with a disability can thrive and truly live life on their own terms.
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a compassionate and person-centred approach that focuses on understanding and addressing the underlying causes of challenging behaviors for individuals with disabilities.
It promotes the use of proactive strategies, empathy, and individualised interventions to enhance quality of life and reduce the reliance on restrictive measures.
PBS emphasises creating supportive environments, teaching adaptive skills, and fostering positive relationships, allowing individuals to effectively communicate their needs, make choices, and actively participate in their communities. Ultimately, PBS aims to empower individuals with disabilities to thrive, promoting their well-being and enabling them to live fulfilling lives with dignity and respect.
Communication Support is a vital service that ensures individuals with complex communication needs have the necessary tools and assistance to express themselves effectively.
It involves using a range of communication methods tailored to the individual’s unique abilities and preferences.
This can include sign language, picture-based systems, speech-generating devices, and other strategies that promote meaningful communication.
Communication Support recognises the importance of inclusion, ensuring that individuals with disabilities have equal opportunities to participate, be heard, and engage in social interactions.
