Participants Greg, Colin and Richard are long time lawn bowls enthusiasts. Since their return to onsite support in November, the three of them have been practising their skills at the South Oakleigh Bowling Club.
The bowling club is the site of one of our Day Support hubs, which assists OC Connections continue to provide on site supports to smaller groups of participants – helping to prevent the spread of infection should a participant or staff member become COVID positive.
Greg, Colin and Richard have been attending the club almost every weekday as part of their daily activities. While their fellow participants take part in other activities on site, the three gentleman play the game to refine their skills.
The three of them had a chance to showcase these skills when they were invited to play in the club’s social competition in December. They enjoyed the comraderie and chance to show their skills to the club’s members and were thrilled when they were awarded a medal each for their great efforts, and gifted a club member uniform.
This recognition made their day, if not year. When they walked back into the hall, it was great to see that their friend Deb shared their joy and came to congratulate them.”

Our specialist services, progressive partnerships and processes, and community connections all work together to support our participants to live and contribute with confidence, fulfilment and self-determination, every day and for their futures.
