While we do not have exact dates for when the vaccine will be rolled out to our residents and staff, we expect a confirmation for the first phase rollout dates to come soon. We will continue to provide information regarding next steps as it comes to hand. In the meantime, preparations are underway for when we can administer it to both staff and residents.
The first phase (1a) will be administered by the Department of Health to residents and staff in OCC accommodation housing with more than two participants. As with all other vaccines, informed consent is required before administering each COVID-19 vaccine dose. Our Team Leaders are arranging consent forms to be signed currently. You can also find a copy of the consent form here if you have not received one already. The completed form can be returned to your house Team Leader.
In accordance with both Government, and National Disability Services (NDS) policy regarding the national rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine, OC Connections does support the vaccination and prioritises the safety of all people with disability and the disability workforce.
OC Connections is positive and hopeful that we are one step closer to the safety of our community from COVID-19.
During this process we will endeavour to keep you up-to-date with all developments.
In preparation for the rollout, you may wish to find out more about the development, approval process and plans for COVID-19 vaccines by visiting the Australian Government site.
