On 10 September 2021 the NDIA introduced temporary flexibility to help certain participants in lockdown areas access meal preparation and delivery support, to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19.
This is available to you if:
• you would normally use your existing Core supports plan to pay a support worker to help you prepare your meals or help with grocery shopping; and
• you live in an area with ‘stay at home’ public health orders.
If you are eligible, you can flexibly use your Core supports budget to pay for meal preparation and delivery without an approved quote – instead of paying a support worker to help with these tasks at home.
This temporary support is to ensure you continue to receive the reasonable and necessary supports you need while complying with a ‘stay at home’ public health order.
You can’t use NDIS funds to buy food. The NDIS can cover the cost of preparing a meal and having it delivered to you.
