As of 8 April 2021, the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) has recommended the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine is preferred over the AstraZeneca vaccine for adults aged under 50 years.
ATAGI has considered the latest vaccination findings out of Europe and the UK – which follow extremely rare instances of people, having taken the AstraZeneca vaccine, developing a syndrome called thrombosis with thrombocytopenia – a very specific syndrome involving blood clots with low platelet counts.
OC Connections will wait for further advice from the Government and will work with staff, participants and their families to determine the best course of action to ensure the safe administration of the COVID Vaccine.
We will update all members of the OC Connections community as more details are made available.
If families or participants have any concerns, please contact us on 9569 0603 or email administration@occonnections.org
