A “GLIMPSE” INTO THE OC ART SPACE

Our participants are a creative bunch!

Renate, a Team Leader of the OC Art Space, recently sent through a collection of “Glimpses”, exhibiting the incredible, individual creative styles of our resident artists.

The pieces range from paintings to sculptures to dioramas, showing different scenes and transforming simple objects into something new.

There’s always a sense of passion and vibrance when you step into the OC Art Space.

You hear participants chattering, markers being rushed along paper, and the soft clipping of scissors from the back wall. The windows and walls are filled with artworks. Cutouts hang from the ceilings and every single shelf is covered in sculptures or propped frames.

Participants have freedom to create whatever their heart desires. With the support and encouragement of their disability care workers, they can use recycled materials, mosaic tiles, things from nature, different fabrics and beads, paints and markers and all different kinds of paper, to fulfil their inspirations and reach their personal goals.

Art is a form of self-expression, a way of communicating and processing emotions, and a beautiful means of connecting with others. It’s about creating something from nothing and getting your hands dirty. It’s about messing up and trying again. The OC Art Space has developed an environment where vulnerability and connection are natural, encouraged, and supported – it’s beautiful to see participants growing and achieving their goals as a result.

Thank you to the OC Art Space for encouraging participants to accomplish what they set their minds to, and for showcasing their beautiful artworks to the community!
