27th annual charity golf day

On Monday 10th July, we held our Annual Charity Golf Day at the Metropolitan Golf Club. This is one of our largest fundraisers, and we couldn’t have done it without the efforts of the organising committee, our volunteers, business partners and sponsors.

The prestigious Metropolitan has been supporting OC Connections for 27 years – their members and staff provided excellent food and service, ensuring the day was successful and our golfers had everything they needed to enjoy their time on the green. For a winter’s day, the weather was lovely, the sun was out and although the wind picked up in the afternoon, the tournaments ran smoothly.

There was a morning and afternoon 18-hole Ambrose Tournament, with many sponsored holes encouraging golfers to donate and learn more about the work we do. We had more than 140 players across the day – new and long-term business partners helped us to raise funds by participating in the tournaments or sponsoring a team.

OC Connections was well-represented with volunteers providing support on the course, and our board of Directors either playing in the tournament or giving speeches at the presentations. The Golf Day organising committee were on the course and assisting with registrations – their hard work over the last few months made the day a success, with many committing to a 12-hour day at the Club, so a huge thank you to:

Many golfers commented on the success of the event, promising to return next year to support our community. There were some excellent prizes up for grabs, thanks to our sponsors and supporters! The winners for each competition are:
Women’s Longest Drive Anita Blencowe and Jenna Hunter
Men’s Longest Drive Josh Dempsey and Matt Brown
Women’s Nearest to the Pin Cindy Huang and Jenna Hunter
Men’s Nearest to the Pin Micel D’Solsa and Raff Toperoso
Best Team (AM) Brendan Davies, Chris Holley, Greg Kent, Ken Mooney
Best Team (PM) Pietro Toperoso, Raff Toperoso, Anthony Di Michele, Mick Di Michele

Raffle prizes were drawn during the evening presentation, with Ben Forbes winning the 1st prize Marvel Corporate Box thanks to our sponsor CoTe Software Solutions. Wayne Coustley, Todd Newey and Michael Boyce followed, winning an 18-hole round of golf at the Metropolitan Golf Club.[DS1]

Again, thank you to our generous sponsors for assisting in raising much-needed funds for participants living with disability:
