Towards Employment team reflect on their online study

Towards Employment participants, Will, David and Harry, recently celebrated their impressive effort to move their study to an online platform.

The team were presented with a certificate and book with photos of their experience studying online with Zoom and Google Classroom. (See photos below).

Hannah Isles, Towards Employment Facilitator, reflected with the group on their time in isolation and their experience with online learning. Read their reflections below.

What did you enjoy about studying online?

Harry: Google classroom, working with Jazzy, making posters.
David: Talking to Hannah, Will, Harry and Jazzy online.
Will: I enjoyed chatting in the chatbox to everyone on Zoom.

What was the most challenging part of studying online?

Harry: Coronavirus
David: The first time logging on. It made me feel a bit nervous.
Will: Focusing on work and not playing on my phone at the same time.

Did you discover anything new about yourself during ISO?

Harry: That I like making posters.
David: Learnt new skills on the computer.
Will: To remember to listen to your teacher more.

What did you miss most about your face to face study at Mackie Road?

Harry: I missed David, Will and Hannah.
David: My friends.
Will: I missed going on Public Transport out in the community, and visiting workplaces such as farms with Highland Cattle which are my favourite!

Participation in the Towards Employment pathway can be funded in your NDIS plan, under School Leavers Employment Supports (SLES), if you are a Year 12 school leaver with a disability and have identified employment-related goals in your NDIS plan.

NDIS participants who have employment-related goals in their plan, and who are not school leavers, can use the Finding and Keeping a Job funding in their plan to access our Towards Employment suite of activities.
