As Manager, Independence, Kai oversees the operations of our day support program. Kai joined OC Connections in 2014 and has worked as a Disabilty Educator and Team Leader throughout his time at OC Connections.
Qualifications: Certificate IV in Disability, Division II Nursing Certificate, Diploma in Disability
What did you do before working in the disability sector?
I worked in aged care as a nurse.
What attracted you to join the disability sector?
I had been speaking to a colleague who was working in the disability sector and I thought it sounded interesting. I’m really interested in communicating with people and was also looking for a career change.
What are the highlights of your role at OC Connections?
I really enjoy educating and supporting participants to achieve their life goals and build upon their independence.
What are the key challenges of your role?
It can be emotionally challenging at times and sometimes difficult developing the skills necessary to adapt to different styles of communication.
