Planning for a holiday can be exciting and a bit daunting at the same time with all the considerations one needs to make. OC Connections endeavoured to take the stress out of this planning process at our April Family Focus Forum.
Leisure Options and ClubMates were invited to present their range of supported holidays for people with intellectual and physical disabilities; the process of including support costs in the NDIS plan and advice about how to get the most out of planning for a holiday to ensure family members achieve the outcomes they want.
Both companies specialise in tailored domestic and international holidays for people with a disability. Holidays can include travel companions, individual and small group tours. As NDIS registered providers Leisure Options and Club Mates provide quotes and advice for families to prepare for their NDIS planning meeting.
Excited by the variety of options on offer by these companies, families at the forum wanted to find out more about how family members could experience their own holidays with friends or incorporate supported funded holidays into a family adventure.
Mr Justin Bruce also presented the OC Connections Tootgarook holiday house, which offers families a fully accessible and fully equipped facility suited to people with a disabiliy or who are aging. Tootgarook is located on the Mornington Peninsula and sleeps up to 14 guests, features two lounge areas, a fully self-contained kitchen and a large fully-fenced and landscaped rear garden with outdoor patio and bbq.
It can be rented as a whole or partial property for smaller groups.
