Thanks to the generosity of Gandel Philanthropy, OC Connections will be able to grow and broaden our Social Enterprise to support more employment opportunities for people living with a disability.
In 2015 OC Connections launched a mobile, ‘waterless’, biodegradable car wash service in partnership with our participants. Major strides have been made since the beginning of 2017 and in particular since the generous grant from Gandel Philanthropy in March 2019, which has led to improved chemicals, new process documents and more rounded experience for employees and customers.
OC Connections has been able to scale up this social enterprise through negotiations with a number of new potential customers as well as looking to expand existing contracts. With the capital funds made available through the Grant, we have been able to fund the expansion of the car wash teams, so the business can grow.
We have hired and trained more individuals living with a disability for our new team in Casey where we have partnered with Casey City Council to service not only their car fleet but also their bus fleet and private cars. As well as funding training costs, this grant enabled us to purchase the necessary cleaning equipment and a vehicle to transport the mobile teams to the various car wash sites.
OC Connections wishes to thank the City of Casey for their support which will have a dramatic impact on the lives of people living with a disability.
Gandel Philanthropy is one of Australia’s largest independent family philanthropic funds. It has been the vehicle for charitable giving by the extended Gandel family since its formation as The Gandel Charitable Foundation in 1978.
John Gandel AC and Pauline Gandel AC (pictured here) are actively engaged in the philanthropic work and are universally recognised for their generosity. Through Gandel Philanthropy, over the years they have channelled over $100 million dollars towards supporting various charitable causes in the community.
Gandel Philanthropy seeks to prioritise support for the most vulnerable and marginalised groups in our society and aims to help build stronger, more resilient, more vibrant and more inclusive communities.
